While the cottage is self-catering, guests will receive a complimentary bottle of Marlborough wine on arrival. A basket of fresh seasonal fruit, cereals, milk, fresh coffee and assorted teas, butter, bread and NZ cheese and a pack of NZ smoked salmon are all on hand to get you started. The kitchen is very well equipped and you are also welcome to use the range of cooking ingredients on hand.

 

Guests are welcome to help themselves to fresh vegetables and herbs from the garden, two steps from the cottage kitchen.

 

Renwick has a supermarket, butcher and liquor outlet and wine is also available from the many winery cellar doors in the district.

 

Mill Stream Cottage is a luxurious, relaxing, self-catering cottage for up to four people.

 

The cottage is set, at the end of a long driveway, amongst a large garden of mature trees in the picturesque lower Omaka Valley. Although surrounded by vineyards and an olive grove, Mill Stream farm fattens cattle, is home to a couple of old family horses, and is presided over by Tess, our black Labrador.

 

The cottage has two bedrooms; one bedroom downstairs with a king size bed, and upstairs a bedroom with one single and one queen size bed. All beds fitted with electric blankets.

There is a large sitting room with an open fire, leather chairs and a large dining table which seats eight people, stereo, television, a barbecue and broadband computer access. The cottage is well supplied with a good selection of current magazines.

 

The sunny self-contained kitchen has a dish washer, stove, large refrigerator and microwave.

 

The attractive bathroom contains a shower, vanity unit, hair drier and heated towel rail. There is a separate lavatory.

 

There is underfloor heating throughout, a separate deep freeze and washing machine in the garage, iron and ironing board, and indoor and outdoor drying facilities.

 

The cottage is adjacent to the main homestead but is thoroughly private with its own access.

 

Guests are encouraged to walk in the garden and wander around the farm. The garden has many spots to sit and contemplate the peace and tranquillity and listen to the numerous birds.

 

Mill Stream Cottage is just minutes from Marlborough (Blenheim) Airport and the village of Renwick is only 2 km away. The locality has several winery restaurants, an “Old English Pub” and there is the Fairhall golf course nearby.

 

Blenheim is 12 km away, in easy reach with its excellent shopping facilities, Art galleries, restaurants and very popular Sunday morning Farmers Market during the summer months.

 

State highway 63 is 2 km away and will lead you to the magnificent scenery of Lakes Rotoiti and Rotoroa, the Rainbow Ski area and then on to the West Coast of the South Island with some New Zealand’s most famous scenery.

State highway 6 is also just down the road leading to Havelock (The Greenshell Mussel capital of the world !), the famous Keneperu and Pelorus Sounds and then over the hill to Nelson, an hour-and-a-half away.
